A. Running When adding existing ECS (Elastic Compute Service) instances into an Auto Scaling group, the instances must be in a "Running" state. Auto Scaling groups work with running instances to manage resource scaling based on your business needs and policies. Instances in other states like "Stopped," "Created," or "Preparing" are not eligible for addition to an Auto Scaling group until they are in the "Running" state.
