D. It is used to store all the data that has changed on the production volume from the time the replication session started. The journal contains the metadata and data that will allow rollback to any recovery points. The amount of space that is configured for the journal determines how far back the recovery points can go.

This is a good question with bad options. Depending on how you interpret the answers C and D either one could be correct. The fact that the actual definition of the Journal volume as listed by js124 is accurate and appears in the curriculum would lead me to choose Answer D for this. The key being "how far back" where as answer C says Amount of Data. The amount of data is irrelevant when it comes to CDP because CDP deals directly with Points in Time and does not care about the amount of data.
