Suppose Today is Monday 16-3-2020, 16 -9 equal 7, it is Saturday 7-3-2020. the start of this week is Monday 2-3-2020. let's come to the end of the week, its 16 - 2= 14, it is Saturday 14-3-2020. the end of that week is Sunday 15-3-202. so, the calculation from 2-3-2020 until 15-3-2020 it is 14 days.

My understanding of this is: Startofweek Returns the start of the week containing the date, shifted by an offset, if provided. Start of the week is considered to be a Sunday. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-explorer/kusto/query/startofweekfunction EndofWeek Returns the end of the week containing the date, shifted by an offset, if provided. Last day of the week is considered to be a Saturday. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-explorer/kusto/query/startofweekfunction Running the report on Monday (say today 15-July-2020), will give: startofweek as past Sunday 12-July-2020 endofweek as this coming Saturday 18-July-2020 12-July minus 9 days (ago 9d) gives 3-July-2020 18-July minus 2 days (ago 2d) gives 16-July-2020 3-July to 16-July is 14 days

Lets say you run the Query 24/9 24/9 - 9 days = sat 15/9 -> Start of that week is sun 9/9 24/9 - 2 days = sat 22/9 -> End of that week is sat 22/9 9/9 to 22/9 = 14 days

This doesn't make sense to me. Ran Query as seen here Perf | where CounterName == "% Processor Time" | where ObjectName == "Processor" | where TimeGenerated between (startofweek(ago(9d)) .. endofweek(ago(2d))) | summarize avg(CounterValue) by Computer, bin(TimeGenerated, 5min) | render timechart Chart comes back and shows Aug 9th to the 18th. That's 10 days. yup. confused

Nevermind. Question says done on monday. Today is Tuesday. In order to make up the difference, I set the to ago(10d) and endofweek(ago(3d). This actually returned a 14 day period. check out the available stuff here to practice and observe. https://ms.portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Monitoring_Logs/DemoLogsBlade It adds the monitoring data to your env and lets you run hem as if you actually have a bunch of data being recorded.

The problem with this question is its assuming we know that the start of a week is on Sunday. If it stated in the question, not the answer, that the start of a work week is Sunday, then 14 days makes sense because 9 days prior to Monday is a Saturday- aka the end of a week. But the statement wants the beginning of that work week, meaning we migrate back to the Sunday that started that work week. It's just annoying because it doesnt say in the question that Sunday is considered Day 1 of a Workweek.

Should be just 7 days imho the offset is from date that the query is run. Monday - 9 is Sunday before (that is also startofweek of that date) Monday - 2 is Saturday before (that is also the endofweek of that date) In between of those is just 7 days

I may second you but there is really no MS document to prove this. I checked several documents. we can only prove this by actually trying.

Monday - 9 = Saturday (not Sunday). So, startofweek is 3 Sundays back. The endofweek you got right. So, endofweek is 1 Saturday back. That gives us a span of 14 days. Although we can't exactly call it "the last 14 days", can we? (since last Sunday, aka yesterday, is not included in it)

wording in this question is very weird. if today is Monday, we can not call "last x days" for any week.
