I think the given answers (NNY) are correct. I understand that Access policy give User only access, not reject.

IF its not possible to activate or deactivate scope through IPAM then you are right. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/t5/IPAM-Discussions/Activate-or-Deactivate-DHCP-scope/td-p/328725

You can activate a scope from IPAM but that doesn't matter because you can change the description of a scope regardless of if it being active or inactive. So he's not right.

DHCP scopes can still be managed by using IPAM. [...] Use the DHCP scopes node to search and display information about IPv4 and IPv6 DHCP scopes on the network. DHCP scopes can be active or inactive. [...] https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-r2-and-2012/jj878351(v=ws.11) I would go with No, No and Yes. User1 can modify the description of Scope 1 ? : No -> IPAM Access Scope to User1 is Limited to Global\Scope2 User2 can modify the description of Scope 1 ? : No -> User2 is not a member of any group with rights to modify IPAM User1 can modify the description of Scope 2 ? : Yes -> User1 has the rights by ipam scope and by role to modify DHCP Scope Settings.

No No Yes - Group 2 (user 1 & 2) has "DHCP Scope Admin" rights on \Global\Scope2 which encompasses DHCP Scope 2

The first one would be no. From the configuration window, we only see Group1 being added to IPAM DHCP Administrators on Server2. Nowhere do we see User1 or Group1 being assigned rights to anything on Server1.

Can provide some feedback on my logic 1. Server1 has IPAM installed 2. Server1 has retrieved dhcp data from server2 3. Use1 is in group1 and group1 is has IPAM DHCP Scope Admin rights for Scope2 only So user1 has no rights to scope 1 because group1 has no rights to scope1 -No user2 has no rights at all - No So user1 has rights to scope 2 because group1 has rights to scope2 -Yes Does my analysis look correct? Thanks

User 1 cannot modify scope 1 has scope 1 is in access scope 1. User 1 is only an admin of access scope 2.

I think it is more related to networking as is related to DHCP. And DHCP is part of 70-741.

Group1 has "IPAM DHCP scope administrators" role permissions for the access scope Scope2. Address scope Scope2 and address scope Scope3 are within access scope Scope2. The "IPAM DHCP scope administrators" role grants permission to manage DHCP scopes within the given acces scope. The role includes the permissions create DHCP scope, edit DHCP scope and edit DHCP scope opons.

And the "Hot Area" doesn't show the choices. As User1 is the only one who gets the role based access role of a DHCP scope admin I suppose it follows that "User1 can modify the description of Scope2" is a Yes, as you can see that the access scope matches. The rest should be No for the same reason.
