The answer D seems incorrect, why would you add a network printer if it stated in the question that it is directly attached one

The AD IS TRUE since there is an option when adding a printer from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers -> My printer not listed -> Add a LOCAL printer or network Printer with manual settings -> use existing port OR create new port -> next -> select the printer (make & model) & next …. (PLUS you cannot use CD/DVD for a printer until it is connected to your computer and you ALREADY used the option connecting via USB)!!!

That is assuming Windows already has the driver. If it is a brand new model or a specialty device, Windows may not have the drivers pre-installed.
