you are absolutely right : VMFS3 Datastores ESXi no longer supports VMFS3 datastores. The ESXi host automatically upgrades VMFS3 to VMFS5 when mounting existing datastores. The host performs the upgrade operation in the following circumstances: At the first boot after an upgrade to ESXi 7.0 or later, when the host mounts all discovered VMFS3 datastores. When you manually mount the VMFS3 datastores that are discovered after the boot, or mount persistently unmounted datastores.

B and D A is false C is also false as you cannot upgrade VMFS 5 to VMFS 6 E is also false as you can very much upgrade VMFS 3 to VMFS 5 That leaves B and D (B is also a bit wrong, just less wrong than the others as in you can use VMFS 3 but cannot create VMFS 3 in ESXi 7)

You can upgrade a VMFS3 datastore but not a VMFS 5 datastore. VMFS3 is no longer supported in vSphere 7, but VMFS5 is. Therefore B and D are correct

Okay so from this link: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc/GUID-DAD74662-E09E-44A4-82F1-DB7A3433CEF9.html ESXi no longer supports VMFS3 datastores. The ESXi host automatically upgrades VMFS3 to VMFS5 when mounting existing datastores. - This statement confuses a lot! it might be VMFS6 instead.. because what's the use of upgrading to VMFS5? when they say that If you have a VMFS5 datastore in your environment, create a VMFS6 datastore and migrate virtual machines from the VMFS5 datastore to VMFS6.

I think they wrong to write the E Answer, they should have written : "A VMFS5 datastore cannot be upgraded; a new VMFS6 datastore is required" only in this case the answer E would be correct

B and D are correct. ESXi no longer supports VMFS3 datastores. The ESXi host automatically upgrades VMFS3 to VMFS5 when mounting existing datastores. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc/GUID-DAD74662-E09E-44A4-82F1-DB7A3433CEF9.html

The ESXi host automatically upgrades VMFS3 to VMFS5 when mounting existing datastores. However that is due to ESXi no longer supporting VMFS3 which is where this confusion is tied. You cannot upgrade a VMFS5 datastore to VMFS6, this must be migrated from one datastore to another IE the example provided VMFS5 to VMFS6. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc/GUID-DAD74662-E09E-44A4-82F1-DB7A3433CEF9.html
