Exam AWS Certified SAP on AWS - Specialty PAS-C01 topic 1 question 70 discussion

A company has run SAP HANA on AWS for a few years on an Amazon EC2 X1 instance with dedicated tenancy. Because of business growth, the company plans to migrate to an EC2 High Memory instance by using a resize operation. The SAP HANA system is set up for high availability with SAP HANA system replication and clustering software.

Which combination of steps should the company take before the migration? (Choose three.)

  • A. Ensure that the source system is running on a supported operating system version.
  • B. Update all references to the IP address of the source system, including the /etc/hosts file for the operating system and DNS entries, to reflect the new IP address.
  • C. Adjust the storage size of SAP HANA data, log, shared, and backup volumes.
  • D. Resize the instance through the AWS Management Console or the AWS CLI.
  • E. Ensure that there is a backup of the source system.
  • F. Update the DNS records. Check the connectivity between the SAP application servers and the new SAP HANA instance.

Selected Answer: AEF
Should be AEF. B incorrect as we usually avoid changing IP addresses to avoid complications and confusion. C incorrect as we should analyse if there is a need to adjust the size before the migration instead of adjusting it. D is not the correct step to prepare for migration. It is not a practice to resize an instance before the migration.

Selected Answer: ADE
Correct are A, D and E. Option A is correct because the source system must be running on a supported operating system version before migrating to an EC2 High Memory instance. Option D is correct because the you should resize the instance through the AWS Management Console or the AWS CLI. Option E is correct because there should be a backup of the source system before migrating to an EC2 High Memory instance. Adjusting the storage size of SAP HANA data, log, shared, and backup volumes is not required as it is automatically adjusted when you resize the instance. Updating all references to the IP address of the source system including the /etc/hosts file for the operating system and DNS entries to reflect the new IP address is not required as there is no change in IP address when resizing an instance.3 Updating DNS records and checking connectivity between SAP application servers and the new SAP HANA instance are not necessary as there is no change in IP address when resizing an instance.
