Exam AWS Certified SAP on AWS - Specialty PAS-C01 topic 1 question 90 discussion

An SAP database analyst installs AWS Backint Agent for SAP HANA (AWS Backint agent) by using AWS Systems Manager. The SAP database analyst runs an initial test to perform a database backup for a 512 GB SAP HANA database. The database runs on an SAP certified Amazon EC2 instance type with General Purpose SSD (gp2) Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) volumes for all disk storage. The backup is running too slowly.

Which actions should the SAP database analyst take to improve the performance of AWS Backint agent? (Choose two.)

  • A. Set the parallel_data_backup_backint_channels parameter to a number greater than 1.
  • B. Select a Provisioned IOPS SSD (io2) volume as the backup target for AWS Backint agent.
  • C. Delete unnecessary older backup files from backups that SAP Backint agent performed.
  • D. Change the existing gp2-based SAP HANA data volumes to the Provisioned IOPS SSD (io2) EBS volume type.
  • E. Reinstall AWS Backint agent by using the AWS Backint installer rather than the Systems Manager document.

A,D: Increasing the value of the parallel_data_backup_backint_channels parameter allows the Backint agent to execute more than one backup process in parallel, improving the overall backup speed. Switching the EBS volume type from gp2 to io2 provides more consistent and faster I/O performance, which can also speed up backup processes.

Problem: My backup is running too slowly and is taking a longer time to complete. Resolution: You can switch your Amazon EBS volumes associated with SAP HANA data filesystem to io1, io2 or gp3 volume type. Additionally, if your database size is greater than 128 GB, you can improve your backup performance by adjusting the number of parallel backup channels. Increase the value of parallel_data_backup_backint_channels and try to initiate your backup again.

A and B because in D I dont understand why just changing the volume type will improve the performance. Potentially it could but B is a clear step to improve. However I go for A and B.
