Exam AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate topic 1 question 426 discussion

An application accesses data through a file system interface. The application runs on Amazon EC2 instances in multiple Availability Zones, all of which must share the same data. While the amount of data is currently small, the company anticipates that it will grow to tens of terabytes over the lifetime of the application.

What is the MOST scalable storage solution to fulfill this requirement?

  • A. Connect a large Amazon EBS volume to multiple instances and schedule snapshots.
  • B. Deploy Amazon EFS in the VPC and create mount targets in multiple subnets.
  • C. Launch an EC2 instance and share data using SMB/CIFS or NFS.
  • D. Deploy an AWS Storage Gateway cached volume on Amazon EC2.

I vote C In this situation we can not used mount-target because we have multiple Availability. As reported in the document below : "You can create one mount target in each Availability Zone in your VPC. All EC2 instances in a VPC within a given Availability Zone share a single mount target for a given file system. If you have multiple subnets in an Availability Zone, you create a mount target in one of the subnets. EC2 instances do not need to be in the same subnet as the mount target in order to access their file system. You can create only one mount target for a One Zone file system. You must create that mount target in the same Availability Zone in which the file system is located." The instances have to share to the EFS in mulitiple Availability Zone so for me is need use the NFS. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/reference/efs/create-mount-target.html
