C is correct - From article: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/session-manager-prerequisites.html At minimum, SSM Agent version 2.3.68.0 or later must be installed on the instances you want to connect to through sessions. And A is correct from - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/session-manager-getting-started-instance-profile.html A & C

AC. AWS Session Manager Does not use SSH access and bastion hosts as this is secure shell by AWS and Make sure the EC2 instances have a proper IAM role to allow SSM actions.

SSM Agent must be installed on each instance you want to use with Systems Manager. SSM Agent is preinstalled, by default, on instances created from the following Amazon Machine Images (AMIs): Windows Server 2008-2012 R2 AMIs published in November 2016 or later Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Amazon Linux Amazon Linux 2 Ubuntu Server 16.04 Ubuntu Server 18.04 Amazon ECS-Optimized

A & C https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/session-manager-getting-started-instance-profile.html By default, AWS Systems Manager doesn't have permission to perform actions on your instances. You must grant access by using an IAM instance profile.

It is A,C: You need to add role to the instance, thus A. You need to install agent (Windows), thus C.
