Exam ANS-C00 topic 1 question 20 discussion

Exam question from Amazon's ANS-C00
Question #: 20
Topic #: 1
[All ANS-C00 Questions]

A customer is using ABC Telecom as a network provider. The customer has 10 different offices connected to ABC Telecom's MPLS backbone. The customer is setting up an AWS Direct Connect connection to AWS and has provided the LOA-CFA to ABC Telecom. ABC Telecom has terminated the Direct Connect circuit into their MPLS backbone. To uniquely identify the customer's traffic over the MPLS backbone, the customer must encapsulate all traffic with VLAN tag 100. The customer wants to send traffic to multiple VPCs.
Which two steps should be taken to meet the customer's requirement? (Choose two.)

  • A. The customer performs Q-in-Q tunneling, with the AWS-required VLAN tag in the inside and VLAN 100 as the outside tag.
  • B. Create a support ticket with AWS to request the removal of the outer VLAN tag 100 as the traffic reaches AWS routers.
  • C. Send the traffic for all VPCs with the same VLAN tag 100 and use BGP to ensure that proper routing takes place to the appropriate VPC.
  • D. ABC Telecom removes the outer tag before sending the packet to AWS.
  • E. ABC Telecom creates a support ticket with AWS to exchange MPLS labels and include the AWS port as part of their MPLS network.

AD. We have to use VLAN tag assigned to VPC (requirement is to use multiple) and then telecom require VLAN 100 over their backbone. This require Q-in-Q. At AWS edge outer tag is stripped and only VPC VLAN sent to AWS.

A and D Each hosted connection is assigned a VLAN on creation by the partner. Each VIF on a given connection requires a unique VLAN tag that can be provisioned only by the partner.

C and D seem correct, Q-in-Q is done by the ABC telecom, the customer is not aware of this process. C is what the customer has to do, D is done by the ABC telecom where it pops the outer VLAN tag and therefore only VLAN 100 remains once it reaches the AWS or the customer

It seems that A is correct due to this sentence: "To uniquely identify the customers traffic over the MPLS backbone, the >>customer<< must encapsulate all traffic with VLAN tag 100"

Ans is A & D; you are responsible for q-in-q encapsulation, then the ABC provider will receive traffic in Vlan 100, as the provider is connected to AWS at layer 2, it will have to remove the outer vlan in the port to aws, then all of your encapsulated vlans will be seen and aws routers.

This is the Q-in-Q question. A - is NOT correct. Should not customer Perform the Q-in-Q. ABC Telecom and AWS Edge Switch need to configure teh Q-in-Q for outer VLAN100

C : Allow customer to tag all traffic with VLAN 100 Tag D: Service provider can remove outer S STAG and forward traffic to AWS with inner TAG 100

I correct my answer. Agreed with priotr. A&D. It's needed to specify the vlan inside for each VPC.

I think two vlans are used in this scenario. 1) vlan for aws direct connect vif 2) vlan for abc telecom mpls backbone unique customer identification to facilitate both these vlans the only available option is A to use Q-Q tunneling

I think it could be D instead of E, because is the MPLS operator who injects and removes the S-TAG to QinQ.
