My vote is C. DEV with Scheduled Reserved Instances and PROD with Reserved Instance. But for Prod it says just 'Reserved' instances instead of Standard Reserved.

"for 10 hours each day during normal business hours" ~> NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS is the key. So we know exactly when the DEV environments should be available...

'C' must be true but as of today (05/03/21) - AWS do not have any capacity for purchasing Scheduled Reserved Instances or any plans to make it available in the future. To reserve capacity, use On-Demand Capacity Reservations instead. Ref: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-scheduled-instances.html

There are two confuse things. 1. Scheduled Reserved Instances are not available these days( policy problems) 2. The qestion mentioned cost-effectiveness, but on-demand is expensive ever

You cannot purchase Scheduled Reserved Instances at this time. AWS does not have any capacity available for Scheduled Reserved Instances or any plans to make it available in the future. To reserve capacity, use On-Demand Capacity Reservations instead. For discounted rates, use Savings Plans. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-scheduled-instances.html

So the answer should be on-demand for dev and reserved for prod.

D. If I were to answer this question today, I will choose D and this is my reason: You cannot purchase Scheduled Reserved Instances at this time. AWS does not have any capacity available for Scheduled Reserved Instances or any plans to make it available in the future. To reserve capacity, use On-Demand Capacity Reservations instead.
