Exam AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 179 discussion

A company's dynamic website is hosted using on-premises servers in the United States. The company is launching its product in Europe, and it wants to optimize site loading times for new European users. The site's backend must remain in the United States. The product is being launched in a few days, and an immediate solution is needed.
What should the solutions architect recommend?

  • A. Launch an Amazon EC2 instance in us-east-1 and migrate the site to it.
  • B. Move the website to Amazon S3. Use cross-Region replication between Regions.
  • C. Use Amazon CloudFront with a custom origin pointing to the on-premises servers.
  • D. Use an Amazon Route 53 geo-proximity routing policy pointing to on-premises servers.

Amazon CloudFront works with any origin server that holds the original, definitive versions of your content, both static and dynamic. There is no additional charge to use a custom origin. So C is the right option.

C is the right option since Cloud Front can use differents Custom Origins. https://aws.amazon.com/pt/blogs/aws/amazon-cloudfront-support-for-custom-origins/ You can now create a CloudFront distribution using a custom origin. Each distribution will can point to an S3 or to a custom origin. This could be another storage service, or it could be something more interesting and more dynamic, such as an EC2 instance or even an Elastic Load Balancer

"dynamic website" so B is wrong; S3 is for static website A is completely pointless; still remains in USA D is definitely wrong; why route traffic to the server and not users? C is the answer

There's only 1 on-premises server. So, we can't use geo-proximity routing.

The website is DYNAMIC. Using CF for dynamic content wouldn't help much. D looks like a better option.

to optimize site loading for -new- european users means you need the static part optimized as it contains no dynamic part/has no user info up to that point. C is best
