A company's application running on Amazon EC2 Linux recently crashed because it ran out of available memory. Management wants to be alerted if this ever happens again. Which combination of steps will accomplish this? (Choose two.)
A.
Create an Amazon CloudWatch dashboard to monitor the memory usage metrics on the instance over time.
B.
Create an alarm on the dashboard that publishes an Amazon SNS notification to alert the CIO when a threshold is passed.
C.
Create an alarm on the metric that publishes an Amazon SNS notification to alert the CIO when a threshold is passed.
D.
Create an alarm on the AWS Personal Health Dashboard that publishes an Amazon SNS notification to alert the CIO when the system is out of memory.
E.
Configure the Amazon CloudWatch agent to collect and push memory usage metrics on the instance.
Ans: E & C (in this order)
Option B seems to be very close to C, but if you read it carefully, you create an alarm on the METRIC not the DASHBOARD itself.
The Amazon CloudWatch agent is used to collect and send both custom and default metrics to CloudWatch. By configuring it to collect memory usage metrics on the EC2 instance, you can monitor the memory usage over time and set up alarms based on this metric.
After configuring the CloudWatch agent to collect memory usage metrics, you need to create an alarm on this metric. The alarm will allow you to set a threshold for memory usage, and when that threshold is breached (i.e., the memory runs out), an Amazon SNS notification will be sent to alert the CIO or other relevant personnel.
E. Configure the Amazon CloudWatch agent to collect and push memory usage metrics on the instance.
C. Create an alarm on the metric that publishes an Amazon SNS notification to alert the CIO when a threshold is passed.
Seem correct
Please to those who say one of B and C goes with E, kindly explain how the CIO being informed when the threshold is passed relate with memory running out.
I would go with D and E. D talks of alarm and personal health dashboard running out of space and E of course talks of cloud watch agent informing CIO when disc runs out of space. I just pray not to have this kind of question on that day though.
