[All ANS-C00 Questions]

You are configuring multiple Direct Connect links for your organization and need them to be in an HA Active/Passive configuration with extreme sensitivity to outages in order to encourage very quick failover times. You also need to be able to control which link is active.
What two configuration changes should you implement? (Choose two.)

  • A. MPLS
  • B. BFD
  • C. AS_PATH Prepending
  • D. BGP
Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: BC 🗳️
Bidirectional-Forwarding Detection will allow for faster failover times. AS_PATH Prepending will allow you to choose the default path. BGP is already implemented and MPLS does not matter.

I read everywhere that we need to use prefix length or BGP communities to control routing from AWS to customer network via Direct connect. See this AWS video from 2018: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXFooR95BYc at minute 43:21. At minute 33:01 they present AS_PATH as a thing of the past. Why do we see many questions here with AS_PATH correct answer ?

Because there is no better answer, at least not in this question.

Because you should spend time reading Direct connect FAQ (part of the exam syllabus) Q: I have already configured my routers with AS_PATH, do I need to change the configuration to use community tags and disrupt my network? No, we will continue to respect AS_PATH attribute. This feature is an additional knob you can use to get better control over the incoming traffic from AWS. AWS Direct Connect follows the standard approach for path selection. Bear in mind that local preference is evaluated before the AS_PATH attribute.
