Exam AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 318 discussion

A company receives 10 TB of instrumentation data each day from several machines located at a single factory. The data consists of JSON files stored on a storage area network (SAN) in an on-premises data center located within the factory. The company wants to send this data to Amazon S3 where it can be accessed by several additional systems that provide critical near-real-lime analytics. A secure transfer is important because the data is considered sensitive.
Which solution offers the MOST reliable data transfer?

  • A. AWS DataSync over public internet
  • B. AWS DataSync over AWS Direct Connect
  • C. AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) over public internet
  • D. AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) over AWS Direct Connect

1) The company wants to send this data to Amazon S3 where it can be accessed by several additional systems that provide critical near-real-lime analytics. -> DataSync can synchronize to S3 (any storage class) 2) 10 TB of instrumentation data each day -> Replication tasks can be scheduled hourly, daily, weekly using DataSync 3) The is a moving-data scenario NOT a database migration scenario Answer : B

JSON files are not a Database system. So it is ordinary files.

BBB These are some of the main use cases for AWS DataSync: • Data migration – Move active datasets rapidly over the network into Amazon S3, Amazon EFS, or FSx for Windows File Server. DataSync includes automatic encryption and data integrity validation to help make sure that your data arrives securely, intact, and ready to use.

It's gotta be D. See here : https://docs.aws.amazon.com/dms/latest/userguide/CHAP_BestPractices.html Also Direct Connect is not encrypted (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/directconnect/latest/UserGuide/encryption-in-transit.html)

from your link: "AWS Direct Connect does not encrypt your traffic that is in transit by default. To encrypt the data in transit that traverses AWS Direct Connect, you must use the transit encryption options for that service" you could use datasync encription: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/datasync/latest/userguide/data-protection.html
