Exam AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 360 discussion

A company is running a multi-tier web application on premises. The web application is containerized and runs on a number of Linux hosts connected to a
PostgreSQL database that contains user records. The operational overhead of maintaining the infrastructure and capacity planning is limiting the company's growth. A solutions architect must improve the application's infrastructure.
Which combination of actions should the solutions architect take to accomplish this? (Choose two.)

  • A. Migrate the PostgreSQL database to Amazon Aurora.
  • B. Migrate the web application to be hosted on Amazon EC2 instances.
  • C. Set up an Amazon CloudFront distribution for the web application content.
  • D. Set up Amazon ElastiCache between the web application and the PostgreSQL database.
  • E. Migrate the web application to be hosted on AWS Fargate with Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS).

A and E for sure C B and D don't address the qn on "application is containerized" and "operational overhead "

The best combination of actions for the solutions architect to take would be: A. Migrate the PostgreSQL database to Amazon Aurora. E. Migrate the web application to be hosted on AWS Fargate with Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS). Migrating the database to Amazon Aurora will provide the company with improved scalability, reliability, and security, reducing the operational overhead and allowing for easier capacity planning. By migrating the web application to AWS Fargate, the company can take advantage of the scalability and security benefits of the cloud, while reducing the operational overhead of maintaining the infrastructure. Option B could be considered as well, however, deploying the web application on AWS Fargate can provide additional benefits, such as simplified management, faster deployment, and lower costs. Option C could potentially improve the performance of the web application, but it's not as critical as the other options. Option D could potentially improve the performance and scalability of the database, but it's not as critical as the other options in this scenario.

Selected Answer: AE
The question asks for way to enhance the existing "On-Prem" Linux hosted containerized WebApp & its PostgreSQL DB. Enhance based on ops cost efficiency. Answer A to E is suggesting somehow migrating the On-Prem infra to the cloud. A is correct bcos Aurora supports PostgreSQL. B is incorrect bcos E that uses containers is more manageable than using EC2 fleet. C is incorrect bcos no request to look at what is external pf the WebApp. D is incorrect bcos more ops cost in handling the new ElastiCache svc. Is there a DB caching issue in the question? E is correct bcos the existing WebApp already run in containers On-Prem and is logical to migrate to a cloud container svc like serverless Fargate on ECS.

Clearly the answer is A + E, Aurora and serverless. C & D are still limited to on-premises and don't address overhead and scalability (growth) issues.
