Your company was recently acquired and a Direct Connection connection was extended from your new parent corporation to your AWS VPC using a hosted VIF. What data charges are billed to your account for that connection?
A.
You are only responsible for the port hours of the VIF.
Hosted VIF means only 3rd party VIFs so consumer only responsible for the data transfer out. The port hours are the responsibility of the owner of the connection.
This is a unclear question. So finally, who is DCX owner and who is hVIF owner??
I am thinking that HVIF belong to your company -> C. you pay data out fee
I think this part makes it quite clear "was extended from your new parent corporation to your AWS VPC using a hosted VIF" => that your company is the VIF owner and the company who acquired your company is the connection owner.
A. Because you are owner of the VIF port so you will pay the port-hour
The DX owner will pay the DX Data transfer out
Q. How will I be charged and billed for my use of Amazon Direct Connect?
Amazon Direct Connect has two separate charges: port-hours and Data Transfer. Pricing is per port-hour consumed for each port type. Partial port-hours consumed are billed as full hours. The account that owns the port will be charged the port-hour charges.
Data Transfer via Amazon Direct Connect will be billed in the same month in which the usage occurred. See additional Q & A below to understand how Data Transfer will be billed.
Check this link. What do they mean Port Hours charging? I think each connection is considered as one port: https://aws.amazon.com/directconnect/pricing/
Also, the term "Hosted VIF" typically means that the Direct Connect offers by the 3rd party provider. As a result, it would only be paid for data transfer; even more precisely, a revised combination of port charge and data transfer by each provider's charge model.
