You need to set up an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance for an application that requires the lowest latency and the highest packet-per-second network performance. The application will talk to other servers in a peered VPC.
Which two of the following components should be part of the design? (Choose two.)

  • A. Select an instance with support for single root I/O virtualization.
  • B. Select an instance that has support for multiple ENAs.
  • C. Ensure that the instance supports jumbo frames and set 9001 MTU.
  • D. Select an instance with Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS)-optimization.
  • E. Ensure that proper OS drivers are installed.

Answers: A&E. https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/faqs/ (A) SR-IOV is a method of device virtualization that provides higher I/O performance and lower CPU utilization compared to traditional implementations. For supported Amazon EC2 instances, this feature provides higher packet per second (PPS) performance, lower inter-instance latencies, and very low network jitter. (E) In order to enable this feature, you must launch an HVM AMI with the appropriate drivers.

I agree A & C. the Reasons: multiple ENA is not a requirement, Jambo is not supported inter-region VPC peering, there is no word saying across regions' VPCs

B: enhanced networking, lower latencies, highest throughput. C: Inter Region VPC peering does support JUMBO frames: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/network_mtu.html#:~:text=Traffic%20over%20an%20inter%2Dregion%20VPC%20peering%20connection

Connections across VPC Peering do not support MTU's greater than 1500, Hence Option C is invalidated. Answer - A & E

This is only true for vpc peering in different region but the question doesn't specify. I would go with A and E as well

Question states: lowest latency and highest packet-per-second network performance + application will talk to other servers in a peered VPC. B. Nope. SRIO provides better latency. C. Nope. Not supported across VPC Peering - limited to 1500. D. Possible but not the best - emp0 has higher IOPS, also there is optimised default and not optimised by default instances - both EBS types. None of these conflict with the instance families supported by SRIO. A. Yes. SRIO. E. Yes. Now instances that support it come with drivers preinstalled - but AWS official documentation recommends actually checking the driver is installed and configured for actual use. There is a difference between preinstalled vs actually using the correct drivers - hence reason why AWS document the process of testing out the drivers. Answer is A E.
