Exam AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate SAA-C02 topic 1 question 469 discussion

A media company is using two video conversion tools that run on Amazon EC2 instances. One tool runs on Windows instances, and the other tool runs on Linux instances. Each video file is large in size and must be processed by both tools.
The company needs a storage solution that can provide a centralized file system that can be mounted on all the EC2 instances that are used in this process.
Which solution meets these requirements?

  • A. Use Amazon FSx for Windows File Server for the Windows instances. Use Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) with Max I/O performance mode for the Linux instances.
  • B. Use Amazon FSx for Windows File Server for the Windows instances. Use Amazon FSx for Lustre for the Linux instances. Link both Amazon FSx file systems to the same Amazon S3 bucket.
  • C. Use Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) with General Purpose performance mode for the Windows instances and the Linux instances
  • D. Use Amazon FSx for Windows File Server for the Windows instances and the Linux instances.

FSx is accessible for both Windows and Linux but FSx for Windows is not accessible for Linux. That's why you have Lustre.

https://aws.amazon.com/fsx/when-to-choose-fsx/ check this out, obviously 'FSx for Windows' is accessible for Linux. Lustre is for Linux with high performance

According to this resource FSx for Windows f/s can be used on Linux and Windows using SMB protocol: https://aws.amazon.com/fsx/windows/ Built on Windows Server By providing fully managed storage built on Windows Server, Amazon FSx provides a rich set of administrative features that include end-user file restore, user quotas, and Access Control Lists (ACLs). Amazon FSx integrates with your on-premises Microsoft Active Directory (AD) as well as with AWS Microsoft Managed AD. With Windows Server's native support for the SMB protocol, Windows-based applications have access to fully compatible shared file storage. Since SMB file shares can also be accessed from Linux and MacOS, any application or user can access the storage regardless of operating system. So it looks like D

Using Amazon EFS with Microsoft Windows–based Amazon EC2 instances is not supported. Mounting a file share on an Amazon EC2 Linux instance. You can mount an Amazon FSx for Windows File Server file share on an Amazon EC2 Linux instance that is either joined to your Active Directory or not joined.

D is ok Amazon FSx for Windows File Server (Amazon FSx) supports access from mixed Windows and Linux environments by fully supporting the SMB protocol. This includes access from Linux using the Linux SMB client. It allows customers to easily move their shared file storage to the cloud and provides a fully managed, native Windows File Server on AWS. https://aws.amazon.com/jp/blogs/storage/access-file-shares-on-amazon-fsx-for-windows-file-server-from-a-linux-environment/

Ok i am not sure what doc you guys are reading, from the doc, You can choose between four widely-used file systems: NetApp ONTAP, OpenZFS, Windows File Server, and Lustre. So the Linux OS is not on this list, which means that the only possible solution is A.
