A. Remove the server from maintenance mode. (Not a valid option) B. Install an operating system. (Correct Answer: OS drivers are required to bring links up. This is the common issue that causes fault code F0283) C. Reassociate the service profile. (This does not change the state if the profile is the same. Status is state not configuration) D. Reset the server in the server General subtab. (Power state is unknown. Correct option would provide the current state) E. Associate a vNIC template to the service profile template. (A vNIC template optional and is not required for a service profile. Current information does not provide enough information to idenify if one is in use.)

MasterDebug, agreed, I don't know which is correct but don't see why it is OS related. VIF would be vNIC, which goes with link-down and the only one is D related to vNIC. still not clear though!

Recommended Action If you see this fault, take the following actions: Step 1 If the fault occurs in the Cisco UCS Manager GUI, capture one or more screenshots of the fault message and other related areas. Step 2 Verify that the blade discovery was completed successfully. Check the states on all of the communicating ports in an end to end manner. Step 3 If connectivity seems correct, recommision the server. Step 4 Execute the show tech-support command and contact Cisco Technical Support.
