Exam 300-430 topic 1 question 207 discussion

Actual exam question from Cisco's 300-430
Question #: 207
Topic #: 1
[All 300-430 Questions]

A municipality customer uses a Cisco 5520 Series Wireless Controller for the wireless network. The customer intends to move the depot of its stores from using legacy bespoke voice-over-Wi-Fi handsets to a VoIP software package running on 5 GHz-capable laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Bluetooth headsets will be used for any voice communication on any data device. Assuming that a suitable RF site survey for 5 GHz has already been carried out, which two configuration settings ensure the best possible voice experience? (Choose two.)

  • A. Configure AVC on the controller to prioritize voice over other applications' traffic on the same device.
  • B. Remark all traffic coming from the new voice-capable devices with DSCP 46 (EF) at the AP.
  • C. Assign the Platinum QoS profile to the SSID carrying the new-style voice traffic.
  • D. Create mobility groups and include all the APs in the high-density areas.
  • E. Turn off the 2.4 GHz radios on all APs where the voice application is used.

B. Remark all traffic coming from the new voice-capable devices with DSCP 46 (EF) at the AP: DSCP 46 (Expedited Forwarding, EF) is used to prioritize voice traffic. Remarking the traffic ensures that voice packets are given the highest priority across the network. C. Assign the Platinum QoS profile to the SSID carrying the new-style voice traffic: The Platinum QoS profile is designed for real-time applications like voice and video, providing the lowest latency and highest priority for voice traffic.

so actually A C D are all correct. another stupid Cisco question To ensure the best possible voice experience, the following configurations are required: Remark all traffic coming from the new voice-capable devices with DSCP 46 (EF) at the AP: This ensures that voice traffic is properly marked for prioritization. Assign the Platinum QoS profile to the SSID carrying the new-style voice traffic: This ensures that voice traffic is given the highest priority and lowest latency. Configure AVC on the controller to prioritize voice over other applications' traffic on the same device: AVC ensures that voice traffic is identified and prioritized, even when other applications are running on the same device. To ensure the best voice experience, the network must: Mark voice traffic with DSCP 46 (EF). Assign the Platinum QoS profile to the SSID carrying voice traffic. Configure AVC to prioritize voice traffic over other applications. These steps, combined with proper RF optimization, will guarantee a high-quality voice experience for the municipality customer.

i think E is a valid option, since all laptops will be 5ghz capable and users will use bluetooth headsets for calls (which do operate on 2.4Ghz). i would rather say tunring Off 2.4Ghz which will be useless in case of migration to new solution would help.

A. Configuring AVC (Application Visibility and Control) on the controller to prioritize voice over other applications' traffic on the same device ensures that voice traffic receives the necessary priority for optimal performance. AVC allows the controller to identify different types of traffic and prioritize them accordingly. C. Assigning the Platinum QoS profile to the SSID carrying the new-style voice traffic ensures that voice traffic is assigned the highest quality of service (QoS) profile, which helps in prioritizing voice packets over other types of traffic on the network. Option B is not entirely relevant to the question since DSCP 46 (EF) is typically used for voice traffic, but remarking all traffic coming from the new voice-capable devices with DSCP 46 (EF) at the AP might not be necessary if the traffic is already marked correctly by the devices themselves.

I think C and E, why E "BLE headsets will be used for all communications", BLE is a know interferer in the 2.4 Ghz spectrum which may lead to a poor service for the VoWiFi users. Why would you remark all traffic as per B, we are only interested in QoS for the voice application

Option E, turning off the 2.4 GHz radios on all APs where the voice application is used, might limit the coverage and flexibility of the network, especially if there are devices that only support 2.4 GHz. Moreover, it doesn't directly address voice traffic optimization.

The question says "BLE" headsets i.e. these operate in the 2.4 Ghz spectrum hence issues with RF interference may occur so turn it off, all network clients are 5 Ghz

Types of control include the following: - Marking of DSCP Reference: Official Cert Guide "CCNP Enterprise Wireless Design ENWLSD 300-425 and Implementation ENWLSI 300-430", Page 270 - Rate-limiting/policing traffic in the upstream or downstream direction - Dropping certain traffic types

Answer A is not correct because AVC is used for marking, not for prioritization. Answer B may be correct if it is a Flexconnect deployment. I would go with B and C.

A. Configure AVC on the controller to prioritize voice over other applications' traffic on the same device. - specifically allow only one application to have DSCP 46 C. Assign the Platinum QoS profile to the SSID carrying the new-style voice traffic. - ensures the ability to provide the best possible DSCP to voice traffic

Correct arra BC, B because AVC profiles only take effect on the WLC in the upstream direction.
