From CCDA 200-310 Official Cert Guide (page 145): The solution is to consolidate both LAN and FC SAN services within a single unified network. The consolidation allows for reduced management points within the network and better utilization of the space, cabling, and power resources. Nexus switches, for example, can provide a unified fabric that supports both Ethernet LAN and Fibre Channel SAN traffic on the same physical network.
