"Installs customer routes in the VRF"
RD only distinguish the routes before been installed to their VRF, but it is not involved in the process of installing those routes, here when it comes the RT (Route-target)
However, describing RT with the word "attribute" which is not made a low-quality question.
"You can use a route map to filter routes that are eligible for import or export in a VRF, based on the route target extended community attributes of the route."

RT is more specific than extended-community.
L3 VPN Attribute:
RD (Route Distinguisher)
IPv4 prefix
