IdP server: This entity authenticates user credentials and issues SAML assertions.
SAML assertion: This element consists of pieces of security information that are transferred from IdPs to the service provider for user authentication. An assertion is an XML document that contains trusted statements about a subject including a username and privileges. SAML assertions are usually digitally signed to ensure their authenticity.

Identity Provider is an online service or website that authenticates users by means of security tokens. It authenticates the end user and returns a SAML Assertion. SAML Assertion shows either a Yes (authenticated) or No (authentication failed) response.
