D is correct, - 64 subcarriers follow, o 12 zero subcarriers on sides and in center. o 48 data subcarriers per symbol. o 4 pilot subcarriers per symbol for synchronization and tracking.

The question is not specific enough. With 802-11g or 802.11a it will be 48 subcarriers, but 802-11n expands it to 52 subcarriers. Each 20-MHz OFDM channel has 48 subcarriers to carry data in parallel. The 802.11n amendment increased the 20-MHz channel throughput by increasing the number of data subcarriers to 52.
