Maximal-Ratio Combining
Basically this is where we use our extra antennas in a MIMO-device to try and improve the SNR-of a signal. It can receive multiple copies of the same signal and then combine them into one single signal that has a better SNR then the two individually received signals. In a nutshell though, this requires that a transmitter sends the original signal out from two or more transmitters, and that the receiver also receives multiple copies of the same signal and then tries to improve the received signal into a higher quality signal.
