VTP protocol has 3 modes Server,CLient & Transperent. There is only 1 server and all other switches in that environment are Clients.Only server can create, modily and delete VLAN's so in VTP environment VLAN's are consistent across the network. The changes made on the Server are automatically propogated to all the clients through the TRUNK links established between the switches.

VTP is a Layer 2 messaging protocol that maintains VLAN configuration consistency by managing the addition, deletion, and renaming of VLANs within a VTP domain.

VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP) reduces administration in a switched network. When you configure a new VLAN on one VTP server, the VLAN is distributed through all switches in the domain. This reduces the need to configure the same VLAN everywhere. VTP protocol has 3 modes: Server, Client & Transparent. There is only 1 server and all other switches in that environment are Clients. The only server can create, modify and delete VLAN so in a VTP environment VLANs are consistent across the network. The changes made on the Server are automatically propagated to all the clients through the TRUNK links established between the switches.
