Should be C: the problem is that if NAT enabled, some firewalls doesn't write the translated address into the SIP Signalling (fortinet for example has VIP feature that make it works).

If a device were to try and route to the private IP address of another endpoint, the transmission would fail at the source router, because private IP addresses are not publicly routable
