  • B. Enable PIM dense mode on the device.

A and C are the correct answers. SSM is suitable for use when there are well-known sources either within the local PIM domain or within another PIM domain. The MSDP, which is needed for interdomain multicast routing when regular PIM-SM is used within a domain, is no longer needed for SSM. ^ This is as per Cisco

it's correct AC https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios/solutions_docs/ip_multicast/Phase_2/mcst_p2.html#wp1186721

A. Enable IGMP version 3 at the interface level. IGMPv3 is required for PIM-SSM because it supports source-specific multicast, allowing receivers to specify the exact source from which they want to receive multicast traffic. C. Enable PIM sparse mode on the device. PIM-SSM operates in sparse mode. Sparse mode is necessary for controlling multicast traffic efficiently in a network where receivers explicitly request streams from specific sources.

there is no need to manage MSDP for SSM between PIM domains

An SSM-configured network has distinct advantages over a traditionally configured PIM sparse-mode network. There is no need for shared trees or RP mapping (no RP is required), or for RP-to-RP source discovery through MSDP. https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/multicast/topics/concept/multicast-pim-ssm.html

A and D are correct The SSM network scenario used in this document is based on the hypothetical interdomain ISP network scenario described in the "Interdomain Multicast Solutions Using MSDP" document. In SSM we dont need RP, MSDP and so on anymore, just Sparse mode and igmpv3 https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/multicast/topics/concept/multicast-pim-ssm.html

Enabling PIM-Sparse mode is required to use SSM, however the question also states that the users are in different domains, so MSDP is used to connect multiple PIM-SSM domains.

but why do we need MSDP is SSM? there are no RP, RP mappings and so on. I think AC is the correct answer
