"Backup and restore must be done using the web interface, there is no API commands for this process. The VCS Admin Guides has API reference chapters that list all commands based on type: xConfiguration, xCommand, and xStatus."
Agree with mr_incredible - I'm currently logged in to my VCS and there is no CLI command for this process. Web admin only
Also, a few notes you may want to know for VCS backups: Backups must be restored to the same VCS version, does not include any VCS logs, backups can be encrypted(password defined at time the backup is taken), the files must be downloaded directly from the web interface locally, no matter what cluster node you take the backup from - the backup is created for the entire cluster.
Encryption notes: Encrypted filenames are created with different extensions. Ex. Backup.tar.enc OR if the backup is taken from Internet Explorer Backup.tar.gz.gz
Cluster notes: Cluster max of 6 including the primary
Web is definitely an answer, VCS admin guide excerpt below.
I'm not sure which between ssh/local, though.
Backing Up and Restoring VCS Data
Use the Backup and restore page (Maintenance > Backup and restore) to create backup files of VCS data, and to
restore the VCS to a previous, saved configuration.
When to Create a Backup
We recommend creating regular backups, and always in the following situations:
■ Before performing an upgrade.
■ Before performing a system restore.
■ In demonstration and test environments, if you want to be able to restore the VCS to a known configuration
