Selected Answer: A
The answer to the question "What is the role of disaggregation in controller-based networking?" is: A. It divides the control-plane and data-plane functions. This answer is mentioned in multiple search results , including [1], [2], [3], and [4]. Answer B is also mentioned in some search results as a description of controller-based networking, but it is not the specific role of disaggregation within that architecture. Answers C and D are not mentioned in any relevant search results for this question.

Taken literally, “network disaggregation” means to separate the network into its component parts. What we’re talking about here is the ability to source switching hardware and network operating systems separately. This is like buying a server from almost any manufacturer and then loading an OS of your choice. Network Function Disaggregation (NFD) defines the evolution of switching and routing appliances from proprietary, closed hardware and software sourced from a single vendor, towards totally decoupled, open components which are combined to form a complete switching and routing device. this is what I found but it has nothing to do with the answers.

Disaggregation in controller-based networking refers to the separation or division of control-plane and data-plane functions in a network architecture. In traditional networking, these functions are often tightly integrated into single devices like routers or switches. However, with disaggregation, the control-plane functions, responsible for making routing decisions and maintaining network information, are centralized in a controller, while the data-plane functions, which handle actual data forwarding, are distributed across the network devices.
