Actual exam question from Cisco's 350-801
Question #: 295
Topic #: 1
[All 350-801 Questions]

An administrator is configuring a new Cisco UCM with PSTN capabilities. Due to bandwidth constraints, audio compression is used on the codec. DTMF must work as expected because the customer is calling many call centers where the users must select options in the call. Where is DTMF out-of-band in a CCM 12.5 with SIP-based gateway configured?

  • A. in the DTMF setting under SIP profile on the Cisco Unified Border Element
  • B. in DTMF settings in the audio codec preference list under regions in the Cisco UCM
  • C. in regions on the Cisco UCM where you set the appropriate codec to use
  • D. in the dial peer on the Cisco IOS router

Just DTMF config on SIP Trunk : SIP Trunk DTMF Options No Preference: CUCM will pick the DTMF method to negotiate DTMF, so an MTP is not required for the call. If Cisco Unified Communications Manager has no choice but to allocate an MTP (if the Media Termination Point Required check box is checked), SIP trunk will negotiate DTMF to RFC2833. RFC 2833: CUCM makes every effort to negotiate RFC2833 regardless of MTP usage. Will fallback to OOB if needed. OOB and RFC 2833: If both out of band and RFC2833 should be used for DTMF.

Selected Answer: D
Checked in my lab and there are no such options under SIP Profile nor under Regions. The dial peer does allow for configuring DTMF, hence D is correct.

D is the correct answer. The DTMF settings are configured on the Dial-Peer of CUBE, which happens to run on a Cisco IOS router.

The question asks where is it configured in a CUCM, not on a Cisco IOS router. So, the correct answer should be A.

But Cisco Unified Border Element is a router. So the answer cannot be A

only DTMF gain is configured on a sip profile .options are configured on the trunk . so would need to be on the gateway as the only valid option
