n this scenario SSL VPN is not used, so make sure the HTTP server is disabled on IOS (no ip http server). Otherwise, you receive an error message in AnyConnect that states, "Use a browser to gain access". https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/flexvpn/115755-flexvpn-ike-eap-00.html

If not using SSL VPN remember to disable ip http server (no ip http server). Otherwise, AnyConnect will try to connect to the HTTP server and receive the result, "Use a browser to gain access".

The alert message "Use a browser to gain access" suggests that the user is trying to access the web-based portal for AnyConnect using a web browser. To resolve this issue, the engineer should take the following action: Connect using HTTPS. The AnyConnect VPN portal typically uses HTTPS (secure HTTP) for accessing the web-based portal. Ensure that the user is connecting to the correct URL using the "https://" prefix in the browser. This is essential for secure communication and accessing the AnyConnect portal over a secure channel. Disabling the HTTP server is not the correct action because the user is expected to use HTTPS for secure communication. Ensure that the user is accessing the correct URL with the appropriate protocol (HTTPS) to establish the AnyConnect VPN connection successfully.
