A company wants a solution to aggregate the capacity of two Cisco FTD devices to make the best use of resources such as bandwidth and connections per second. Which order of steps must be taken across the Cisco FTDs with Cisco FMC to meet this requirement?

  • A. Add members to the Cisco FMC, configure Cisco FTD interfaces, create the cluster in Cisco FMC, and configure cluster members in Cisco FMC
  • B. Add members to Cisco FMC, configure Cisco FTD interfaces in Cisco FMC, configure cluster members in Cisco FMC, create cluster in Cisco FMC, and configure cluster members in Cisco FMC
  • C. Configure the Cisco FTD interfaces, add members to FMC, configure cluster members in FMC, and create cluster in Cisco FMC
  • D. Configure the Cisco FTD interfaces and cluster members, add members to Cisco FMC, and create the cluster in Cisco FMC

Correct answer here is (D). Just refer to question's #246 correct answer. After you add the FTD members into FMC the left clustering configuration is adding the HA pair.

Horrible question. Example of why I am letting my certs expire after this. I don't care if my company is willing to pay.

Workflow This workflow uses Firepower Chassis Manager on FXOS and FMC for the FTD to complete your clustering deployment. Procedure Step 1 FXOS tasks: FXOS: Configure Interfaces. Configure one management and all data interfaces that you intend to assign to the FTD. The cluster interface is defined by default as Port-Channel 48, but for inter-chassis clustering, you need to add member interfaces. For multi-instance clustering, you can add VLAN subinterfaces to the cluster EtherChannel as well. FXOS: Add a Resource Profile for Container Instances. Create a Threat Defense Cluster. Add More Cluster Nodes Step 2 FMC tasks: Management Center: Add a Cluster. Management Center: Configure Cluster, Data, and Diagnostic Interfaces. The management interface was pre-configured when you deployed the cluster. Step 3 FXOS and/or FMC tasks: Management Center: Manage Cluster Members.

In Chassis manager, you (STEP1) config the interfaces, create the cluster and add nodes, then you (STEP2) switch to FMC to add the units to FMC and build the cluster there. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/fxos/clustering/ftd-4100-9300-cluster.html#task_tqm_ghj_qgb

A is the correct answer because this is the correct order of steps to configure a cluster with Cisco FTD devices and Cisco FMC. First, you need to add the Cisco FTD devices as members to the Cisco FMC. Then, you need to configure the interfaces on the Cisco FTD devices, which includes configuring them for clustering. After that, you need to create the cluster in Cisco FMC, which will group the devices together. Finally, you need to configure the cluster members in Cisco FMC, which includes specifying the primary and secondary devices, as well as other cluster settings.
