Selected Answer: C
0 = strip 1= mirror 5= strip with parity 6= double parity 10= mirror and strip Stripping = process of dividing a body of data into blocks and spreading the data blocks across multiple storage devices. Parity= it is a checksum. It's a calculated value used to mathematically rebuild data. RAID 10 is basically RAID 0 with mirroring , thus it is faster and has redundancy.

Selected Answer: C
For maximum performance and redundancy, the systems administrator should use RAID 10 (or RAID 1+0). RAID 10 (Mirrored Stripes): RAID 10 combines the features of both RAID 1 (mirroring) and RAID 0 (striping). It offers excellent redundancy and performance. Data is both mirrored and striped across multiple drives. In a RAID 10 array, half of the drives are used for mirroring (redundancy), and the other half are used for striping (performance). If one drive fails, the data can still be accessed from the mirrored drive, ensuring high availability. It provides both speed and fault tolerance. RAID 5 and RAID 6 are also used for redundancy but have different characteristics:

RAID 5: RAID 5 uses striping with distributed parity. It provides fault tolerance and some performance improvement but is generally not as fast as RAID 10. It can handle the loss of a single drive without data loss. RAID 6: RAID 6 is similar to RAID 5 but with dual parity. It provides even greater fault tolerance and can handle the loss of two drives without data loss. However, it's generally slower than RAID 10 in terms of performance. RAID 50: RAID 50 combines RAID 5 and RAID 0. It offers good performance and fault tolerance but is more complex to set up and manage compared to RAID 10. RAID 10 is often preferred for critical applications where both performance and redundancy are crucial. So, for maximum performance and redundancy, RAID 10 is the preferred choice.

To achieve maximum performance and redundancy in a storage system, the most appropriate RAID technology to use would be RAID 10 (option C).
