Selected Answer: D
D. Cable tester would be the best option for the network administrator to use to further troubleshoot the connectivity issue. A cable tester is a tool specifically designed to test the integrity and connectivity of network cables. It can help identify issues such as miswiring, open circuits, short circuits, and cable faults. By using a cable tester, the network administrator can verify if the network cable is functioning properly or if there are any issues with its connectivity.

This is such a bad question because are you supposed to assume when the device was moved to a new location the technician used a new cable? Since the move, you can now connect, so to me, the original wall jack where the device was connected to is not lit up because theres no link light on the NIC. The port is dead, so why not use a tone generator to find to trace to the port in the patch panel? Let me know if im wrong

So I think tone generator is incorrect because the question isn't asking you how we will find out which cable links to the workstation we originally had issues on. We've already ruled out the host being the problem as everything was in working order once we moved the device to a new location and plugged it into a different jack. Now our next step is to test the faulty equipment. Sure part of that process might include going to the patch panel and using a tone generator to find out which cable is the one tied to the station, but that isn't going to help us solve the problem and troubleshoot. That's my take at least.

Sorry folks this is a very poor question. 30 years of experience in telecom/network tells me to go with toner first…especially if you are troubleshooting…you only carry a cable tester around during installation. But a toner you must always have…plus the toner will give you an idea of which port you are actually connected to. Cables usually don’t go bad out of the blue…but a clown moving patch cables around would give you issues…so final and most logical answer is toner…

It has to be Cable tester because it is a copper cable not a fiber cable -> RJ45
