Project A and Project B share a team member. The team member is falling behind on a task for Project B. Which of the following is the BEST action to take to get the task for Project B back on track?
A.
Negotiate to get more of the team member's available time.
B.
Assign the team member to work overtime to finish the task.
C.
Speed up completion of the task by assisting the team member.
I was initial stuck on A and C but once I thought about it C doesn’t make any sense as the project manager may not have the available skills needed to assist/support
These answers I tell ya lol, so close smh.
A. Negotiate to get more of the team member's available time. Seems reasonable if that person have more or spare time on the project.
B. Assign the team member to work overtime to finish the task. Also great in terms additional time to complete both task & of course compensated for it.
C. Speed up completion of the task by assisting the team member... This one now, "by assisting the team member" by doing what exactly? This person must have a special skill to be assigned two projects. Addition help would be bringing that person up to speed, factors like time & budget comes to mind like is there enough of it.
A&B is so close so I'd go with A because a negotiation will have to take place & B can be the result of that negotiation.
In this scenario, the focus should be on helping the team member catch up on the task for Project B. Rather than assigning additional work or taking on the task themselves, the best approach is to provide support and assistance to the team member
