A honeypot is a computer system that is intentionally exposed to attack in order to gather information about attackers. Honeypots are often used to monitor network breaches in a passive, controlled manner.
Definitely not C because it states PASSIVE manner (which could be done by an IDS (Intruder Detection System). IPS are used to react on breaches. So correct here is the honeypot to regards how intruders try to breach a system or a network.
There's nothing passive about prevention. If someone is trying to get in and get's outright stopped... they're gonna know something happened.
