Selected Answer: AB
AB not BD because first we conduct research based on the symptoms BEFORE we test with a replacement cable. Otherwise, how do we know we're replacing with a known good cable without knowing what version is bad? HDMI cables have different versions that support different features and bandwidths. For example, HDMI 1.4 supports up to 4K at 30 Hz, while HDMI 2.0 supports up to 4K at 60 Hz. The technician should check the version of the HDMI cable and make sure it matches the specifications of the monitor and the desktop. It sounds like the user is using HDMI 1.4 on a cutting edge monitor but you won't know until you check the cable version.

The first steps that the technician should perform are A. Check the version of the HDMI cable and B. Check the input source. A possible cause of the problem is that the HDMI cable is not compatible with the 4K resolution of the monitor. HDMI cables have different versions that support different features and bandwidths. For example, HDMI 1.4 supports up to 4K at 30 Hz, while HDMI 2.0 supports up to 4K at 60 Hz1. The technician should check the version of the HDMI cable and make sure it matches the specifications of the monitor and the desktop.

Another possible cause of the problem is that the monitor is not set to the correct input source. The input source is the option that allows the monitor to switch between different video signals from different ports, such as HDMI, DVI, VGA, or DisplayPort2. The technician should check the input source and make sure it is set to HDMI, since that is how the desktop is connected to the monitor. The input source can usually be changed using the buttons or menu on the monitor itself2.

It cannot be the version of the HDMI cable because the question stated it was working previously.

A is for sure because older versions of HDMI don't support 4K resolutions, B for ensuring the input source

I think AB, because we are in the process to check.

Selected Answer: BD
The two FIRST steps the technician should perform are: B. Check the input source: Ensure that the monitor is set to the correct input source. If the monitor is expecting a signal from HDMI, make sure it is set to HDMI. D. Replace the HDMI cable: Faulty or incompatible HDMI cables can cause issues with signal transmission. Replace the HDMI cable with a known good cable to eliminate this potential problem.

I think there are AB because the question is the first step. So to you replace the cable HDMI, you need to first check whether the HDMI support 4k or not.. This makes more sense to me.

the monitor was working before however, so no need to check the HDMI.
