If there's anything I have learned from these exams, it's that you should never assume any information that is not given to you. In this question, there are no stated problems with the battery rather than it not turning on after being charged. If the answer were to be a swollen battery, the question would state "laptop does not sit flat on surfaces" or "some keys have lost functionality". That is why I must say the answer is D.

Selected Answer: D
Logically if it was a swollen battery the user would have noticed the swollen battery and reported it. There isnt much free space in laptops so swollen batteries are usually very obvious and leasd to the laptop not lying flat. So its D.

A A swollen battery can prevent a laptop from powering on as it disrupts connectivity or damages internal components. Identifying physical signs such as swelling or bulging is key, which aligns with the CompTIA A+ Core 1 objective on mobile device troubleshooting, specifically battery issues.

I'm going with A. Here's why it's not D: Verification of AC Adapter and Power Cord: The on-site technician confirmed that both the AC adapter and power cord were functional, which implies that power is being delivered to the laptop. If the port were damaged, the power would not reach the laptop at all. Depleted Battery: The laptop had a depleted battery, which typically suggests an issue with the battery itself rather than the port. A swollen battery can occur due to various reasons like overcharging or prolonged use and can prevent the laptop from functioning even with external power.

Selected Answer: D
It is unlikely that a laptop won't turn on with a swollen battery, especially if its connected to the PSU. D. Damaged port is the culprit, the damaged port would prevent the laptop to receive power from the PSU, in result the laptop not turning on.

If it was a damaged port then the battery wouldn't have been charged at all. Most likely the battery is starting to fail. in early stages it may not be fully swollen to notice.

They left it plugged in assuming it was charging, but the laptop wont turn on, so how could they know if the battery was charged at all. So that means, the port is damaged and doesn't allow the laptop to charge

Selected Answer: A
Based on the given scenario, the most likely cause of the issue is: A. Swollen battery This is the most probable explanation because: 1. The laptop was reportedly charged the night before, yet it wouldn't turn on after the battery was depleted. This suggests a problem with the battery itself rather than the charging mechanism. 2. A swollen battery can cause sudden and complete failure of a laptop to power on, even when connected to AC power. This is because swollen batteries can interfere with internal connections or trigger safety mechanisms that prevent the laptop from operating. The technician verified that the AC adapter and power cord were functional, ruling out issues with the external power supply. 3.Swollen batteries are a common issue in laptops, especially those that have been in use for some time or exposed to heat. The other options are less likely: D. A damaged port could prevent charging, but the laptop was reportedly charged the night before.

Swollen battery is the correct answer since others choices are not applicable for this question. Furthermore, Damaged port is not due to that laptop was charged the night before, excessive wattage and calibration corruption are excluded since they are not related to the question.

I know there are no swollen battery symptoms however, it says "even though it was charged the night before." Doesn't that imply that the port was functional and the port works? Because it was charged the night before?

A. Using a higher wattage charger is perfectly safe. This is because the Laptop is designed in such a way as there is the maximum power that can be drawn by the system. A higher wattage charger can supply this power easily and hence you won't run into any issues. A lower wattage charger is a different issue.

Backing up D). Since the AC adapter and power cord are verified to be functional and the battery was supposedly charged the night before, a damaged port could prevent the laptop from turning on due to an inability to charge or draw power. While a "Swollen battery" is a possibility, the scenario does not mention any prior symptoms of a failing battery, making a damaged port more likely. Going with the D) Damaged port

Selected Answer: A
If the laptop won't turn on even after being charged the night before, a common issue could be a swollen or faulty battery. A swollen battery can fail to provide the necessary power to turn the laptop on. It can also pose a safety risk and should be replaced immediately.
