Selected Answer: B
While it may be difficult to purchase matching equipment, that is the "best" option presented here. Performing scheduled chkdsk will only let you know if an issue is happening, not help mitigate it. That said, tomf is correct, in a real world application, the company would want to transition to a more modern option to ensure minimal disruption when that legacy hardware inevitably stops working.

B, best answer for me. We have this exact issue at my work now. We have a few old machines around with outdated software that fail on occasion. Usually something involving memory or drives, but we keep like equipment around for that reason.

Sound to me like they are, well, in a bad situation. Of these options B is the best. But they really need to be transitioning their "critical process" to something more modern, maybe even recode it in house with modern software.

The method described is the "Differential" backup method. In a differential backup, only the files that have changed since the last full backup are backed up. However, during a restore, you would use the last full backup and the latest differential backup to restore the system. Therefore, the correct answer is: D. Full differential.
