simple way to thing about is
RAID 0 - speed / striping
RAID 1 - redundancy
RAID 5 - Parity
RAID 6 - Double Parity
RAID 10 - raid 1+0
it is in order from least to most expensive
The next-simplest RAID 1 level uses mirroring. This takes all data written to one drive and writes it in parallel to a second drive. This provides the highest redundancy since there is a 1-for-1 copy of all data written. It also provides very high read performance, as both disks can be read in parallel
