C. Salting
The process of adding a secret value to extend the length of stored passwords is known as "salting." In password security, a salt is a random value that is unique for each user. The salt is combined with the user's password before hashing, making it more difficult for attackers to use precomputed tables (rainbow tables) or other techniques to crack passwords.
