A project manager is attempting to establish the proper sequencing and duration of project activities. Which of the following would be the MOST beneficial?
I'm more inclined to agree with the provided answer. A Gnatt chart is basically a representation of a schedule that has already been established. The question is asking which should be used to establish a sequence. Gnatt chart is basically just a glorified calendar of events we already know the sequence of. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
A. Network Diagram
Gantt Charts already have the time defined. They show the relation of different tasks to each other. Their task dependencies, slack time, and so on.
The keyword is "establish", therefore Network Diagram is correct. Gnatt Chart shows items in order with duration, it isn't used to establish the duration of project activities.
The keywords in this question are "sequence" and "duration". This makes "Network Diagram" much more appealing based on the Study Guide.
"One technique used by PM to sequence activities is a network diagram. A network diagram depicts the project activities and interrelationship amount these activities....A commonly used network diagramming method is precedence diagramming method (PDM).....Simple PDM network diagram of tasks with finish to start dependencies and task durations."

I think I may need to agree that a gnatt chart is "MOST" beneficial as the question asks. A gnatt chart is far more clear than a network diagram. It offers dates where as a network diagram does not. A Gnatt chart has more to offer, a network diagram has less to offer.

A network diagram depicts the project activities and the interrelationships among these activities. Gantt charts - can show milestones, deliverables, and all the activities of the project including their durations, start and end dates, and the resources assigned to the task. (Comptia Project+ study guide, 2nd ed.)
Revisiting this. I think jerry47 might be correct. A Gantt chart is actually a type of network diagram along with the PERT diagram.
