If the question said it was a new user then for sure D, but I could see why people would do C, however the problem with that is its not guaranteed to have it whereas if you use a tone generator the solution would be guaranteed. I think D is the correct option

If a cable is broken (possible), a tone generator will not be able to trace the signal all the way through the cable. The CAM table should still have memory of the MAC address associated with the device from the last time it connected. I feel like dumbtia wants us to say tone generator however as this type of question always comes up.

I'm saying D. If the link lights aren't on the it may not be in the CAM table. Best option is to tone the line.
