Selected Answer: A
I disagree with all the options. The correct answer is 164.71 The formula is SquareRoot of x minus x-bar squared over n minus 1 n = 5, so n - 1 = 4 X-bar = 394 (300 + 430 + 170 + 470 + 600) / 5 = 394 x - x-bar squared is therefore (300-394)^2 = 8836, (430-394)^2 = 1296, (170-394)^2=50176, (470-394)^2= 5576, (600-394)^2=42436 So, x - x-bar squared for each dog is 8836, 1296, 50175, 5776, 42436 Now sum those numbers (Sigma): 8836 + 1296 + 50176 + 5776 + 42436 = 108520 Divide result by the sample count minus 1 (n-1 = 4) 108520 / 4 = 27130 Square root of 27130 = 164.71

A. 147. (300 + 430 + 170 + 470 + 600) / 5 = 394. Mean is 394. sqrt(((300 - 394)^2 + (430 - 394)^2 + (170 - 394)^2 + (470 - 394)^2 + (600 - 394)^2) / 5)) = 147. Standard deviation is 147.
