The DNS record used to look up the IP address assigned to a domain name is: A. A (Address) record. The A record maps a domain name to an IPv4 address. When a user enters a domain name into a web browser or other network application, the A record is queried to determine the corresponding IPv4 address of the server hosting that domain.
