I guess the answer is DSL because the only reason why I can see DSL being the answer is it goes from a phone line (RJ-11) connecting to a modem & the modem to RJ-45 ports (Ethernet). and you can fiber from main hub all the way to a facility, very expensive but can technically still be done

B is correct , as per Dion Training material: OBJ-2.7: DSL is a technology used to transmit multimedia traffic at high-bit rates over twisted-pair copper wire (over ordinary telephone lines). This allows the telecommunications company to connect a user's home to the local switching center using normal telephone lines, then connect that local switching center (using a DSLAM to multiplex the connections) to the central office over a single high-speed cable (such as a fiber connection).

page 223 in the official comptia prayer guide and songbook describes the last mile in relation to the difficulties in setting fiber, fiber to the premise, fttx, etc. no mention on any of the others.

I think "switching center" is the key here. The device at the local switching center which communicates with the DSL modem is called a Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), which is connected directly to the Internet

I agree that it is fiber. The question asks what type terminates at a switching center and require a different media for the last mile(that media is DSL). So the type that this question asks is fiber.

This is one of those questions that we shouldn't even be arguing about. The answer I'm going to go with is fiber.

As others have said, this must be fiber.

It is DSL because DSL sends the signal over telephone trunk lines (normally fiber cabling nowadays) to a switching center and the "last mile" is run on twisted pair.

DSL runs to the premise on telephone wire through, and including, the last mile. This is fiber. When is the last time you opened your home switch closet and saw fiber? Only coaxial and phone wires.

Make up your mind. Is it fiber or DSL?

It's fiber. "Last mile" refers to the stretch between the switching station and customer (e.g. between the box at the end of the street and your house.) testtakingmachine is misinterpreting "last mile" to mean the cable from your router into the wall.

This has got to be fiber because it doesn't rely on existing infrastructure like dsl, cable, or isdn
