You do not typically need to reboot a router after changing the password unless there is some other issue.

A reboot is necessary for some if not all changes to take effect. It's the same process for some software installation, they'll prompt you to restart the device before the software can launch properly.

Reboot the router, it's generally a good practice to reboot your router after changing the password on it
